Privacy Policy
Overview
Pixel E-Book Reader is a modern e-book reader for Android. It is built to work entirely offline: it opens and displays the books you choose, from wherever you choose them, keeps track of your reading locally, and does nothing else with that information. This policy explains, in plain terms, what that means in practice.
Information we collect
None. Pixel E-Book Reader does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, device identifiers, or usage information. It has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend server to send data to.
On-device book access
Books you import through the Storage Access Framework — PDF, EPUB, FB2, TXT, HTML, HTM, or Markdown — are read directly from the file or folder you chose and stored only in the app's local library on your device. Access is scoped to exactly what you import; Pixel E-Book Reader does not request broad storage permission and does not scan your device for files on its own.
Reading statistics & metadata
Reading time, streaks, books finished, and any metadata you add or edit — series, tags, rating, ISBN, and publish date — are calculated and stored entirely on your device, alongside your library. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
Text-to-speech
Text-to-speech playback uses the text-to-speech engine already installed on your Android device. Pixel E-Book Reader sends book text to that on-device engine to be read aloud; it does not send book text to any server it controls or to any third party.
Local backup & restore
The backup feature exports your library and settings to a file you choose the location for, using the Storage Access Framework. Restoring reads that file back in. Pixel E-Book Reader never uploads a backup anywhere on its own — where the file goes and comes from is entirely up to you.
Permissions
Pixel E-Book Reader requests only the Android permissions it needs to read the files and folders you explicitly select and to save or read a backup file you choose. None of it is used to transmit data off your device.
Third-party services
Pixel E-Book Reader does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and it does not talk to any server it controls or any third-party service.
Children's privacy
Pixel E-Book Reader is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — it does not collect information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a revised effective date above. Continued use of Pixel E-Book Reader after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
