Wrist alerts
A quiet notification when a new song is heard nearby, with Subtle, Prominent, Heartbeat, or Mute vibration.
In development
The song in the room, on your wrist.
Now Playing Companion brings Pixel's ambient "Now Playing" song recognition to your Wear OS watch. Songs your phone has already recognized are sent straight to your wrist over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. No backend. No analytics. No microphone access.

What it does
Know what's playing without reaching for your phone.
A glance at your watch tells you what song is playing nearby, and one tap opens it on your phone.
Tile
The current (or last heard) song, with a one-tap "Open on phone" button.
Watch face complications
Song title in Short Text and Long Text slots, pushed only when a song arrives — never polled.
History
Recently recognized songs on both watch and phone. Tap to open, swipe to remove.
Open on phone
Send a song to YouTube Music, Spotify, or Google Search on your phone.
Built for Wear OS
A Wear Compose Material 3 app for Wear OS 3 and newer, paired with a Pixel phone.
How it works
Your phone listens. Your watch shows it.
Now Playing runs on your Pixel phone and shows its result as a notification that stays on the phone, so it never reaches your watch by itself. The phone app reads that notification and sends the song title and artist to the watch over Google Play services' Wearable Data Layer. The watch app then updates the alert, tile, and complications.

Phone to watch, and nowhere else
Now Playing Companion records no audio and has no microphone access. It reads only Now Playing's notification on your phone, and the song title and artist travel directly between your phone and watch. There are no accounts, no ad SDKs, and no analytics, and nothing is sent to any server.
